Digging through old photo, I found these from Nate Papes and I’s trip to the Chain of Rocks Bridge a year ago today. The bridge, built in another era, closed years ago, but carried traffic for Route 66.
The entrance on the Missouri side was closed, but the bridge can still be accessed from the Illinois side. The bridge has an odd curve in the middle of it, making it fun to walk but probably difficult to drive.
It’s not often that you have the opportunity to photograph the World Champion St. Louis Cardinals in Springfield, Mo. On Monday, April 2, the St. Louis Cardinals traveled down to Hammons Field to take on their Double-A Springfield affiliate team. While the entire team didn’t travel because of the quick turnaround to Wednesday’s state-side MLB opening game in Miami, fan favorites and some Springfield Cardinals alumni made the trip such as Jon Jay, Matt Carpenter, David Freese and Matt Holliday. The coaching staff, including first year manager Mike Matheny and hitting coach Mark McGwire, also made the trip.
