An Engagement Surprise

This past Saturday I was fortunate enough to photograph Ben Loewnau’s engagement to Lexie Purcell at Babler State Park in Wildwood, Mo.

A few days earlier, Ben and I scouted out a location for me to hide and capture the surprise. Ben and Lexie hiked this trail during one of their first dates, so the location had special meaning.

I ended up hiding about 100 feet away behind a tree and was able to capture the moment:

Photographing Nanotech: A Scholar Athlete Portrait

Each spring, the Post-Dispatch compiles a list of scholar athletes from around the region. I photographed Jake Drysdale – a runner and someone who’s working  to remove air pollution using nanotechnology.

He brought several of the tools he uses to spray the pollution-reducing solution onto the sign and we used those as props for the portrait.
