Tennis: State championships in Springfield

I photographed the state tennis championships in Springfield this weekend. It worked out well since I was in town for Missouri State’s homecoming and alumni association meetings, so I got a chance to photograph a new sport.

It’s not really new to me, but the last time I photographed tennis was in high school. Nonetheless, I feel the results turned out pretty well.

Major League Cardinals play Springfield Cardinals

It’s not often that you have the opportunity to photograph the World Champion St. Louis Cardinals in Springfield, Mo. On Monday, April 2, the St. Louis Cardinals traveled down to Hammons Field to take on their Double-A Springfield affiliate team.While the entire team didn’t travel because of the quick turnaround to Wednesday’s state-side MLB opening game in Miami, fan favorites and some Springfield Cardinals alumni made the trip such as Jon Jay, Matt Carpenter, David Freese and Matt Holliday.The coaching staff, including first year manager Mike Matheny and hitting coach Mark McGwire, also made the trip.
